Boston College defeats Loyola women’s lacrosse after second quarter run

Loyola University Maryland lost to Boston College 11–8 in a women’s lacrosse game at Ridley Athletic Complex on April 4. The Greyhounds started strong with three early goals, but Boston College took control in the second quarter and held off Loyola’s comeback attempts.

The result matters for both teams as they compete in their respective leagues, with Loyola now holding a record of 9–5 overall and 5–1 in the Patriot League, while Boston College improves to 8–5 overall and 5–3 in league play.

Loyola opened the scoring with Morgan Ruhnke’s unassisted goal, followed by Lauren Perfetto and Mim Suares‑Jury adding to the lead. Suares‑Jury led the Greyhounds’ effort with three goals, five ground balls, and two draw controls. Perfetto and Ava Kane each contributed a goal and an assist. Neicia Smith scored on a free-position shot late in the third quarter.

Boston College responded with six goals in the second quarter, taking advantage of turnovers by Loyola. Despite this run, Kennedy Buntrock kept Loyola close by making a career-high nine saves, including three stops each in the second and third quarters. Marissa White led Boston College with four goals.

Both teams had 18 turnovers during the game. Boston College outshot Loyola 32-22 and won more draws (13 out of 21) as well as ground balls (21-12).

Loyola will next play Colgate at home for Senior Day.
