Coppin State University’s Nelson Lamizana has been named the MEAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Monday. This marks the second time this season that Lamizana has earned this recognition.

Lamizana, a freshman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, contributed ten points, five rebounds, and one assist in Coppin State’s victory at Delaware State during the opening game of conference play on Saturday. He made 3-of-6 field goals, including two three-pointers, and converted both of his free throw attempts.

So far this season, Lamizana is averaging 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting 45.9 percent from the field and has made 13 of his 14 free throw attempts for a rate of 92.9 percent. He has scored in double figures in five out of his eleven games.

Coppin State University is scheduled to host NC Central on Saturday, January 10 at 4:30 pm. The game will be available via live video on ESPN+.
