Five Loyola University Maryland golfers were named to the All-Patriot League teams, and Liam Moloney was selected as the conference’s Rookie of the Year by a vote of league coaches, according to an April 29 announcement.
The recognition highlights individual achievements for members of the Loyola Greyhounds men’s golf team. Such honors are given based on performance throughout the season and reflect both athletic skill and consistency in competition.
Eli Spaulding and Jackson Roman were named to the All-Patriot League First Team. Moloney, Diego Neira, and Gustavo Rangel earned second-team recognition. Moloney is noted as the first Loyola player to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Year since Jeremy Wall in 2015. He finished as the top-ranked freshman in the conference at No. 679 in national rankings, with a 72.7 adjusted scoring average over eight tournaments and three top-10 finishes.
Spaulding led his team in national rankings this season at No. 566 with a 72.1 adjusted scoring average, posting five top-10 finishes during various tournaments including fifth place individually at this year’s Patriot League Championships where Loyola finished third as a team. Roman ended his collegiate career with his first All-Patriot League selection after being ranked No. 767 nationally and winning his first collegiate tournament at March’s Carpetbagger Classic.
Neira tied for seventh at the Patriot League Championships and completed his year ranked No. 861 nationally with two top-10 finishes overall, while Rangel received second-team honors after earning first-team recognition last year; he was ranked No. 950 nationally with a season-best tie for tenth place at February’s Loyola Intercollegiate event.
