Gary-Grayson and Gamble receive MEAC women’s basketball weekly honors

Coppin State University’s Kyle Gary-Grayson and Shanaii Gamble have been recognized with weekly honors by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), according to an announcement from the league office on Monday. Gary-Grayson was named Rookie of the Week, while Gamble received Defensive Player of the Week.

In a recent game against George Washington, Gary-Grayson scored 16 points, which was both a team and season high. She made five out of nine shots and was successful on all three attempts from beyond the arc. The freshman from West Orange, New Jersey, also contributed two rebounds and two steals.

Gamble, a sophomore from Florida City, Florida, led all players in that game with eight rebounds. She also recorded one block and four steals. For the season so far, Gamble is averaging 6.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Coppin State University will begin MEAC conference play on Saturday, January 3 at Delaware State. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.
