Kweisi Mfume, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 7th district, has been active on social media discussing various issues pertinent to his legislative agenda and constituents. His recent tweets highlight his engagement with environmental groups, support for federal workers, and advocacy against food assistance cuts.

On March 12, 2025, Mfume expressed his appreciation for meeting with several environmental organizations to discuss the Chesapeake Bay watershed’s health and preservation. He stated: “It was insightful to welcome the Choose Clean Water Coalition, Chesapeake Conservancy, Chesapeake Legal Alliance, Severn River Association, ShoreRivers, and the Arundel Rivers Federation to #CapitolHill to discuss the health and preservation of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.”

The following day on March 13, 2025, Mfume addressed concerns regarding federal workers’ job security. He commented on a court ruling related to civil servants’ dismissals: “Federal workers are the ‘heart-blood’ of this nation, and sham dismissals of civil servants en masse are both un-American and illegal.” He acknowledged that while encouraged by the ruling, there remains a significant battle ahead.

On March 14, 2025, Mfume discussed his meeting with Carmen Del Guercio from the Maryland Food Bank about recent changes in food assistance programs. He tweeted: “Recently I had a productive meeting with Maryland Food Bank President and CEO Carmen Del Guercio on #CapitolHill.” He criticized former President Trump’s cuts to these programs and emphasized his commitment to fighting against such reductions.
