On November 1, 2024, Mfume expressed his appreciation for attending an event with retired educators from Baltimore City Public Schools. He remarked, “It was great sharing the afternoon with retirees of Baltimore City Public Schools as they celebrated their organization’s 75th anniversary of dedicated service to the teaching profession.”

The following day, November 2, 2024, Mfume participated in a significant event at Johns Hopkins University. He noted his involvement alongside key figures such as President Ron Daniels and Dean Theodore DeWeese during the dedication of a new building named after Henrietta Lacks. He stated, “I was happy to join Johns Hopkins President Ron Daniels, Dean Theodore DeWeese, and the Hopkins community as they honored the family of Henrietta Lacks with the groundbreaking and dedication of the Henrietta Lacks Building.”

Later that day, Mfume announced a bipartisan initiative he co-led with Congressman Pete Sessions. They addressed concerns over improper payments within federal agencies by submitting a letter to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Mfume explained, “This week, Congressman Pete Sessions and I delivered a bipartisan letter requesting that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) examine improper payments and fraud across the federal government.”
