Kweisi Mfume, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 7th district since 2020, shared several updates this week on his official social media account. His posts ranged from celebrating the birthday of a local figure to announcing grant funding for youth initiatives and commenting on national security concerns.
On March 23, 2026, Mfume wrote: “Happy 84th birthday, Professor Larry S. Gibson! Tiffany and I had the honor of stopping by yesterday to wish our dear friend a special happy birthday. https://t.co/a73mvIJ4b1”.
Two days later, on March 24, he highlighted support for Baltimore youth with the following statement: “This week at Mervo H.S., I proudly presented a $1 million grant to B-360, a successful nonprofit that turns the City’s dirt bike culture into career opportunities for at risk teenagers. #Baltimore #Dirtbike #Mervo https://t.co/hyEwMjACEd https://t.co/TMf4pOyYUK”.

Mfume was born in Baltimore in 1948 and continues to reside there. He holds a BA from Morgan State University and previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives from 1987 to 1996 before joining Congress as Elijah Cummings’ successor.
