Lehigh University defeated both the men’s and women’s tennis teams from Loyola University Maryland at the McClure Tennis Center on April 3. The Lehigh men won their match 4-0, while the women’s team edged out Loyola with a close 4-3 victory.

The matches were significant for both programs as they tested their skills against strong competition. For the women, Loyola took an early lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Christine Richiez and Emma Roeck secured a win at No. 1 doubles, while Mia Matriccino and Victoria Epps earned a convincing victory at No. 3 doubles. The second doubles match was unfinished with Lehigh leading.

In singles play, Lehigh clinched the overall win by taking four of six matches. Maggie Forkner came from behind to defeat Richiez at No. 1 singles, while Lena Dogadalski won over Elena Hartley at No. 2 singles. Giselle Vlassis and Alice Ann Pantsari also contributed victories for Lehigh in their respective positions. For Loyola, Epps won her match at No. 4 singles after three sets, and Roeck added another point with a straight-set win at No. 5.

On the men’s side, Lehigh claimed the doubles point by winning two completed matches decisively before moving into singles play where they notched victories in three contests to secure the overall result. Alex Van Lumich led off with a win over Petter Hagen in straight sets; Kosei Ogata followed suit against Louis Moldenhauer; Aleksandar Daskalovic rounded out Lehigh’s scoring with his own straight-set triumph over Ryan Gill.

Several other singles contests remained unfinished as time ran out or results became unnecessary due to earlier clinches by Lehigh players.

The results reflect ongoing efforts by both programs to compete strongly within collegiate tennis circles.
