Loyola University Maryland’s men’s golf team finished the first day in sixth place after two rounds at Villanova’s Wildcat Invitational, held April 6 at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey.

The tournament saw the Greyhounds improve their score by four shots during Monday’s afternoon round. The team posted a 13-over-par score of 297 in the second round, with Eli Spaulding leading Loyola with a 2-over-par 73.

Diego Neira recorded Loyola’s best individual round of the day, shooting an even-par 71 in the morning session. After carding a six-over-par 77 in the afternoon, Neira is tied for eighth overall among all competitors. Jackson Roman also contributed to Loyola’s effort and is tied for 21st place following his three-over-par second-round performance.

Jack Geyer and Liam Moloney are both two strokes behind Roman, each sitting at ten-over par and tied for thirty-third place overall. Spaulding recovered from a difficult morning round of nine-over-par to stand fortieth individually. Playing as an individual entry for Loyola, Lorenzo Sanz finished the day thirteen over par and holds forty-seventh position.

The final eighteen holes are scheduled to begin Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at nine o’clock.
