Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse will face Boston University at Ridley Athletic Complex on April 4, with the game set to begin at noon. This matchup marks the first of a Greyhounds doubleheader, followed by a women’s lacrosse game against Boston College later that afternoon.
The contest is significant as Loyola’s starting attack—Mason Cook, Kenan Everhart, and Matthew Minicus—has been responsible for nearly two-thirds of the team’s goals this season. Cook has recorded three or more goals in nine out of ten games this year and leads the Patriot League in goals per game. The Greyhounds are also ranked second in the Patriot League and fourteenth nationally for fewest turnovers per game.
In their most recent outing, Loyola secured a 10-8 victory over Holy Cross after holding their opponent scoreless during the final minutes. Max Watkinson made several key saves while Minicus contributed what became the decisive goal. Head Coach Charley Toomey is currently serving his twenty-first season leading Loyola and holds a career record of 193-116.
Saturday’s meeting will be the thirteenth between Loyola and Boston University since both joined the Patriot League in 2013-14. The series is currently tied at six wins each, with Boston having won five of the last seven encounters. Last year’s matchup saw Boston use a strong run to claim victory at home.
Fans can watch Saturday’s action live on ESPN+. The Greyhounds have found success playing at Ridley Athletic Complex since it opened in 2010, compiling an all-time record of 78-37 there.
