Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse team won against Boston University, 13-7, in the Patriot League Championships First Round on April 26. The Greyhounds will move on to play Army West Point in the semifinals at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

This win allows Loyola to continue its postseason run and gives them a chance to compete for the league title. The team’s strong performance in the second half was key to their victory.

Seven players scored for Loyola during Sunday’s game, with Morgan Quade leading with six points from two goals and four assists. Elisa Faklaris and Delaney Jackson each scored three goals. After trailing at halftime, Loyola opened the second half by scoring six straight goals while holding Boston University scoreless for over 23 minutes.

Quade contributed significantly during this run by scoring an unassisted goal that tied the game early in the third quarter and assisting on subsequent scores by her teammates. Jackson added another goal early in the fourth quarter, while Faklaris tallied three goals in that period as well.

The Greyhounds had a notable advantage in draw controls, finishing with a 15-7 edge led by Mae Murphy’s ten draws. Reilly Mahon recorded three caused turnovers and Murphy added two more. Makenzie Butler made seven saves as goalkeeper for Loyola.

Looking ahead, Loyola will face Army West Point on Thursday night as they aim to secure a spot in the Patriot League Championship final.
