Loyola is set to face Army West Point in the Patriot League Semifinals on April 29. This will be the second meeting between the teams this season, with Army having won their previous matchup, 18-10. The teams last met in the Patriot League Championships final in 2023, where Loyola secured a 13-8 victory.
The matchup holds significance as both teams have demonstrated strong performances throughout the season. Loyola’s sophomore players Morgan Quade and Lauren Perfetto have contributed significantly, with Quade leading the team in assists and points, while Perfetto is second in assists and third in points. Mae Murphy has taken over draw control duties from Chase Boyle and set new records for single-season draws at both Loyola and within Division I.
Head coach Jen Adams is leading her eighteenth season with Loyola. Since the start of the 2022 season, Adams’ teams have compiled an 80-21 record that includes five NCAA Tournament wins. She recently achieved her 250th career win following a victory over Colgate.
Elisa Faklaris reached several personal milestones this year by scoring her hundredth career goal against Bucknell and surpassing one hundred career points earlier against Boston. Murphy broke Loyola’s single-season draw record previously held by Boyle.
The Greyhounds are coming off their seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament (excluding 2020), winning at least one game during six of those appearances and reaching quarterfinals twice since 2022. Last year, they were eliminated by Stony Brook in the first round.
Freshman Mim Suares-Jury has also made an impact after earning a bronze medal with Australia’s national team at The World Games; she improved on her freshman campaign with increased goals, assists, ground balls, caused turnovers, and draws this season.
Army enters Thursday’s game with a record of thirteen wins and three losses after defeating Colgate decisively to close their regular season. Allison Reilly leads nationally in assists while Brigid Duffy shares top honors for goals scored; both received major Patriot League awards for offense and midfield performance respectively.
Six Greyhounds were named to All-League teams this year including Rookie of the Year honors for Murphy who was joined on First Team selections by Quade—also recognized as Scholar Athlete of the Year—and Suares-Jury. Senior class members were honored after their recent match against Colgate for compiling a strong four-year record that includes multiple championships and tournament appearances.
