Mae Murphy of Loyola University Maryland was named to the Nike Lacrosse Media All-American First Team, according to a May 15 announcement from Inside Lacrosse. Murphy, a freshman from Moorestown, New Jersey, is the only freshman selected for the first team this year.
The recognition highlights Murphy’s achievements during her debut season. She also earned spots on the USA Lacrosse First Team, Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year as well as Patriot League First Team.
Murphy set new records in draw controls for both Loyola and the Patriot League this season. She broke single-season marks at both levels and finished with the second most draws in a single season nationally, trailing only Jordan Dean of UMass who had 261 in 2024. Additionally, she surpassed Division I, Patriot League, and Loyola records for freshman draw controls.
Throughout her season with Loyola Greyhounds women’s lacrosse team, Murphy recorded double-digit draw controls in 15 games. The team led all programs nationally with a draw percentage of 66.8 percent and averaged 16.8 draws per game—ranking second overall. On defense, she contributed with 12 caused turnovers and collected ten ground balls.
Murphy’s performance has played a key role in elevating Loyola’s standing among collegiate lacrosse teams this year.
