Loyola University Maryland’s Mason Cook has been named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in the team’s win over Colgate. The announcement was made on Monday.
Cook, a sophomore from Towson, Maryland, scored eight goals in the 13-11 victory. This marks a career high for Cook and is the most goals by a Loyola player in a single game since Kevin Lindley achieved the same number in March 2019 against Colgate.
During the match, Cook scored twice in both the first and second quarters. He tied the game at 10-10 early in the fourth quarter. After Colgate regained a one-goal lead, Cook scored again to even it at 11-11 with just over eight minutes left. He added two more goals late in regulation to secure Loyola’s win.
Cook has now scored 18 goals this season, surpassing his total of 17 from last year as a freshman. He currently leads the Patriot League with an average of 4.50 goals per game as of Sunday, March 1.
The Greyhounds are scheduled to play their first home game of the season on Tuesday, March 3, facing Towson University at Ridley Athletic Complex.
