Loyola University Maryland’s Max Watkinson was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week on March 30, following his performance in the Greyhounds’ recent victory over College of the Holy Cross.

Watkinson received this recognition after making 15 saves during Loyola’s 10-8 win. Nine of those saves came in the second half, with two crucial stops in the fourth quarter that helped maintain Loyola’s lead. He stopped shots from Owen Tunney and Bo Webster within the final five minutes when Loyola was ahead by just one goal. In addition to his saves, Watkinson also recorded a caused turnover during the game.

This match marked Watkinson’s ninth game this season with at least ten saves and his fourth game with fifteen or more. Over his career as a starter, he has reached double-digit saves in 23 out of 27 games.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return home to Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 4 for a noon matchup against Boston University. The men’s lacrosse game will be followed by a women’s lacrosse contest between Loyola and Boston College at 3 p.m., creating a doubleheader event for fans.
