The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association announced on April 26 that the application process for the 2026 Minds in Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarship is now open. The program, now in its nineteenth year, honors high school seniors who have demonstrated achievement both academically and athletically.

The scholarship aims to support students who have balanced their commitment to sports with academic excellence. To be eligible, applicants must have an unweighted overall grade point average of at least 3.25 and must have participated in interscholastic athletic activities sponsored by the association during their high school years.

Selected male and female recipients from each of the nine districts represented by the association will receive a $1,000 scholarship to assist with post-secondary education costs. Applications are accepted through an online form that will remain available until noon on Friday, April 3.

Applications are organized according to district and then sent to each district’s Scholar-Athlete Committee representative. Each district forms a selection committee responsible for reviewing submissions and choosing recipients.

This annual initiative continues to recognize student-athletes who exemplify dedication both on the field and in their studies. The association encourages all eligible seniors to apply before the deadline.
