Loyola University Maryland’s Morgan Quade was named the Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Patriot League, according to an announcement on Apr. 29. Ava Kane was also recognized and named to the Academic All-Patriot League team.
The recognition highlights academic and athletic achievements among student-athletes in the Patriot League. These honors emphasize a balance between sports performance and academic excellence for collegiate athletes.
Quade, a sophomore finance major with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.91, received Academic All-Patriot League honors for the first time after being selected earlier in the week as a First-Team All-Patriot League player. She is noted as Loyola’s sixth different recipient of this top academic honor in women’s lacrosse. According to Loyola, Quade has been selected three times for Dean’s list at Loyola Maryland and is involved with Dream on 3 Club, which supports children with life-altering conditions who want to play their favorite sport. On the field, she recorded 65 points from 27 goals and 38 assists this season, helping lead her team to secure the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Championship.
Kane, who majors in Communication and Media with a GPA of 3.90, earned her first Academic All-Patriot League selection this season as well. As a senior attacker for Loyola Greyhounds Women’s Lacrosse team, Kane contributed 23 goals and five assists during this campaign and is one of seven players on her team with at least twenty goals scored.
Looking ahead, Loyola will face off against No. 2 seeded Army Black Knights on Thursday in the Patriot League Semifinals.
