University of Maryland Medical Center issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
In 2009 Kristin McLoughlin was the first UMMC patient to undergo kidney removal surgery using a single cut in the belly button. We were the first hospital in Maryland and only the third hospital in the U.S. to offer this procedure that is now the standard approach for living kidney donors.
