Charley Toomey and the Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse coaching staff were named the Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year on Apr. 27 after leading the Greyhounds to a significant improvement in their win total during the regular season.
The recognition highlights a notable turnaround for Loyola, which achieved the largest increase in wins among collegiate teams nationally in 2026. The team finished with a 9-5 overall record and went 6-2 in conference play, securing its fifth Patriot League regular-season title since joining the league in 2014.
Four players from Loyola received All-Patriot League honors. Mason Cook was selected for the first team, while Kenan Everhart, Luke Murphy, and Jake Wilson earned spots on the second team. All four are first-time honorees.
Cook ended his sophomore season ranked second nationally in total goals with 51 and third in goals per game at 64, leading both categories within the Patriot League. He scored two or more goals in thirteen out of fourteen games this year and had three or more goals twelve times. Cook is now tied for fourth place on Loyola’s single-season goal list with his performance this year.
Everhart contributed significantly after returning from injuries that sidelined him during his freshman year and part of last season. He tied for second on the team with 49 points and led with 21 assists, recording five hat tricks including a key game-winning goal against Navy.
Murphy led all midfielders on Loyola’s roster with fifteen goals while setting career highs across multiple categories. Wilson became Loyola’s primary cover defender this season, collecting thirty-seven ground balls—most among non-faceoff specialists—and ranking second on the squad with thirteen caused turnovers.
