Cost of college went up for all students at Maryland Institute College of Art

Tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2017-18 at Maryland Institute College of Art, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maryland students paid $46,990 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $1,590 more than the $45,400 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 391 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.58 million and 187 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.69 million.

Including all undergraduates, 1,683 students used grants or scholarships totaling $30.55 million. Another 876 took out $6.38 million in federal student loans.
