Loyola University Maryland issued the following announcement on June 18.
Loyola University Maryland has named Jennifer Louden as the University’s new dean of undergraduate admission. Louden, who has been serving as interim dean of undergraduate admission since October 2017, will begin in the role July 1, 2018.
Louden, who earned a Master’s in Liberal Studies from Loyola and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kenyon College, has also worked in admission at Bucknell University, American University, and Georgetown University.
A resident of Columbia, Md., Louden began at Loyola in 2007 as associate director of admission, was promoted to senior associate director of admission, and left briefly for a year for a position at Georgetown before returning to Loyola in 2016 to become associate director for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the office of undergraduate admission. She was appointed interim dean of undergraduate admission for Loyola last fall. Since then, she has worked closely to strengthen relationships with members of the campus community who are supporting the work of office of undergraduate admission.
“When prospective students and their families visit campus, they see the enthusiasm of our faculty, our administrators, and our students, and they understand Loyola,” she said.
Louden is working to grow the community of those who support the recruitment effort.
“The voices of alumni and parents of former and current students are integral to that process. We are working on ways to incorporate those constituencies into our recruitment. Those parent and alumni voices are very important, and parents and alumni are asking how they can help.”
Louden is looking forward to partnering with colleagues across campus to offer an increasingly personalized experience to prospective students and their families. Among her other priorities is focusing on issues related to equity and inclusion on campus.
“Jennifer has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and vision. I look forward to seeing all she and the undergraduate admission team will achieve together in the years ahead,” said Mark Lindenmeyer, interim vice president for enrollment management and communications. “During her time at Loyola, she has cultivated exceptional collaboration across campus, while also embracing a deep commitment to equity and inclusion and a passion for the Jesuit mission and values of our university.”
