A commercial office security provider is relocating its headquarters in Bethesda and planning to add 50 full-time positions.
Datawatch Systems will lease an office space of 25,000 square feet on East West Highway in Bethesda. With approximately 200 employees in Montgomery County, it plans to add the 50 new jobs over the next four years.
"Although businesses have many opportunities in this region, we are beyond thrilled to remain in Montgomery County and look forward to the continued growth and expansion of our organization," Datawatch President William Peel III said in a press release.
Gov. Larry Hogan said Datawatch's decision to expand in Montgomery County was great news.
"Our administration is committed to ensuring that Maryland’s strong community of innovative companies supporting cyber defense is second to none," Hogan said in the press release.
The Maryland Department of Commerce will provide a $50,000 training grant through the Partnership for Workforce Quality to help with the expansion. The county is also providing a conditional grant in the amount of $80,000 through the Economic Development Fund. There are several other tax credits that Datawatch is eligible for to assist in its expansion.
"This expansion is a powerful testimonial to our business-friendly climate here in Maryland," Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill said in a press release. "We are thrilled to support Datawatch’s commitment to Maryland, and we look forward to watching them grow the state’s security sector and talented technology workforce."
