City of Baltimore issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.
STEP INTO YOUR FUTURE. Mayor Catherine E. Pugh announces the City’s second annual WorkBaltimore: Empowerment to Employment Convention! An initiative targeting endemic unemployment and job skills gaps.
The City of Baltimore will once again partner with area businesses and educators to offer pre-convention work readiness workshops, services and resources, in preparation for the WorkBaltimore Convention. There will be speakers and professionals conducting workshops and professional development content, throughout the day.
“Connecting Baltimore City residents who need and want to work – and who have the skills and capability to make a positive difference – with those who need quality employees is what WorkBaltimore is all about,” said Mayor Catherine E. Pugh.
“Moving Baltimore forward depends on moving individuals and families forward by extending opportunities for personal, professional and economic advancement. As such, we’re delighted for the second year to provide this forum for employers and prospective employees to come together and identify solutions that serve their mutual interests.”
The culminating event is scheduled to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center, Wednesday, September 26th and, Thursday, September 27th and is designed to attract participation from a wide range of job-seekers including those with little no to little experience, early career, mid-career, and executive level career professionals. It is intended to prepare and connect Baltimore City residents with employment opportunities and provide employers with a viable pool of qualified applicants seeking to meet current and future business demands.
In the coming weeks, the Department of Human Resources and its City Agency Partners will launch an aggressive advertisement campaign and grassroots effort to ensure every Baltimore City resident with an interest in employment is aware of this incredible resource, and has an opportunity to register and attend pre-convention sessions.
