We have open seats on our Social Services Board, Ethics Commission, Human Relations Commission, and Pension Oversight Commission. Check out the descriptions of each below, and apply by emailing your resume and completed conflict of interest form (found here: https://buff.ly/2Ozpk0G) to Kaley Schultze at kaley.schultze@aacounty.org as soon as possible!

Social Services Board:

Helps get the word out about what the Department of Social Services (DSS) does and helps raise funds for programs and services DSS provides. The ideal board member would have an interest in human service or be passionate about healthcare, adoption, foster care, or economic benefits. Meetings occur on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The Board is in need of members to represent South County, North County, and West County.

Ethics Commission:

Vital to administering the Public Ethics Law by providing advice to county employees, and investigating and holding hearings on alleged violations of the Ethics Law. Meetings occur on the 2nd Monday of the month at 4 p.m. and the 3rd Monday as well when necessary. This person's appointment will go before the County Council for final approval. Commission members may be of any political affiliation, but must disclose their affiliation.

Human Relations Commission

The purpose of the newly codified Commission is to promote and enhance the ability of all Anne Arundel County residents to pursue their lives free of discrimination in housing. Meetings will likely occur on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Seven of the eleven members will be recommended by members of the County Council, so please notify your councilmember of your interest when submitting your application.

Pension Oversight Commission

Vital to providing oversight and non-binding recommendations on any legislative or funding change proposals to the pension system, independent of both the legislative and executive branches of county government, consistent with sections 606-609 in the County Charter. This person's appointment will go before the County Council for final approval.
