Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Baltimore

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.5 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Baltimore, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maryland residents paid $8,958 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $134 more than the $8,824 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 135.3 percent more than residents this year, or $21,076. Their price tag grew 1.8 percent from $20,704 in 2017-18.

About 96 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Maryland residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 89 students received grants or scholarships totaling $656,800 and 38 students took out student loans totaling more than $248,310.

Including all undergraduates (5,041), 2,342 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.5 million, and 1,484 students took out $15.9 million in federal student loans.
