Congratulations to 30 Baltimore City Public Schools students who were honored in the 2023 Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards! The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.

Teens across the country submitted pieces in 28 categories of art and writing, and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (the Maryland regional affiliate for this competition) received over 4,200 works of visual and literary art from teens across the Maryland region.

All works were blindly judged by local visual artists, poets, educators, editors, and playwrights on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice.

Award recipients receive a Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention. Gold Key finalists are automatically considered for national awards, and national medalists are eligible for scholarships of up to $12,500.
