Mfume, who took over the congressional seat in 2020 following Elijah Cummings, has shared several tweets highlighting his stance on recent developments under the Trump administration.

On January 27, 2025, Kweisi Mfume posted a tweet referring to Maryland and Baltimore using hashtags: "#Maryland #Baltimore #TeamMaryland".

In a tweet dated January 28, 2025, Mfume criticized the federal government's decision to freeze virtually all federal funding. He noted that this action had created confusion across various levels of government and organizations. The following day on January 29, 2025, Mfume shared another tweet acknowledging what he described as an "about-face" by the Trump administration regarding its initial approach to federal funding. We must never yield to any threat from anyone that seeks to harm our critical government services affecting children, seniors, veterans,…"
