Kweisi Mfume, serving as the U.S. Congressman for Maryland's 7th District since 2020, has recently shared several community and federal initiatives on social media. These initiatives highlight ongoing efforts in East Baltimore and West Baltimore, as well as recognition of a fellow congressman's contributions.

On April 26, 2025, Mfume announced his participation in a groundbreaking event at Henderson-Hopkins for East Baltimore Development, Inc.'s Phase 2B project. He emphasized the importance of "$2.3M in federal funding I helped secure, alongside @chrisvanhollen and then-@senatorcardin, [which] will improve transportation."

On April 27, 2025, Mfume celebrated local collaboration by sharing his involvement in the grand opening of The Mill on North Food Hall in West Baltimore. He explained that the venue is "a vibrant hub in #WestBaltimore made possible by the collaboration of local, state, and federal government partners," and expressed pride in securing "an $800,000 federal grant for the" project.

On April 28, 2025, Mfume acknowledged Congressman Gerry Connolly's service and leadership, particularly on the Oversight Committee, which "has been an esteemed leader and formidable voice [...] for 16 years thus far before he was ever elected to become its Ranking Member." He praised Connolly's partnership in advocating for federal workers.

Mfume, born in Baltimore in 1948 and a Morgan State University graduate, succeeded Elijah Cummings in 2020 as the representative for Maryland's 7th District. His political career began in the Maryland House of Representatives, where he served from 1987 until 1996.
