Baltimore Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 26.
On October 24, 2018, Officer Gregory Parker was on patrol, assisting other officers with a drug investigation. Officer Parker observed a Dodge Challenger involved in suspicious activity. After assisting with the drug investigation, Officer Parker learned the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day.
A short time later, Officer Parker observed the Dodge Challenger driving in the O’Donnell Heights community. Officer Parker immediately contacted the Baltimore Police Aviation Unit. Once over the vehicle, the Aviation Unit was able to follow the stolen car and coordinate with officers on the ground.
The stolen car later crashed into several vehicles in South Baltimore. After the crash, the suspect attempted to run from officers on foot. Officer Parker arrested the suspect, without incident, a short distance away from the crash scene.
The suspect has been identified as 26-year old Dominique Edward. He was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility. Edward is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, and several traffic violations.
On Thursday, Officer Parker was recognized by members of the Baltimore Police Command Staff for his work.
