Cost of college went up for all students at the Maryland Institute College of Art

Tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at the Maryland Institute College of Art, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maryland students paid $48,630 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,640 more than the $46,990 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 391 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.8 million and 182 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.6 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,178), 1,658 students used grants or scholarships totaling $35.2 million, and 779 students took out $5.5 million in federal student loans.
