BALTIMORE CITY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION: Fayette Street Closure Now in Effect Due to Underground Fire

Baltimore City Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on Sept. 5.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists that a portion of Fayette Street is now closed due to an underground fire.

At this time, Fayette Street Exit on i83 is now closed to through traffic detours in effect. In addition, Fayette Street is closed beginning on N. Gay Street to President Street until further notice.

These closures are expected to remain in effect throughout the night. The Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) and Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) are on scene and responding to the emergency. Commuters traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
