UPDATES from Mayor Brandon M. Scott
“The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we will keep working diligently to determine the source of the contamination, address the problem, and resume the delivery of clean, drinkable water to our residents.”
UPDATES: Since Sunday, we’ve received 25 water test results – all results were negative with the exception of one at the Police Station on 1034 N. Mount Street in the direct impact area. The Baltimore City Department of Public Works will continue to conduct tests until we are certain water is safe for consumption.
The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we will keep working diligently to determine the source of the contamination, address the problem, and resume the delivery of clean, drinkable water to our residents.
We are diligently working to investigate the source of the contamination by: Surveying and sampling additional locations, identifying construction projects in the area, performing leak tests, conducting valve assessments, and checking chlorine levels.
We will continue to operate water distribution sites through the Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management. These are located at: 1401 W. Lafayette Ave. (Harlem Park Elementary/Middle School), 3301 Waterview Ave. (Middle Branch Park), and 500 3rd Ave. (Lansdowne Library). Since Monday, we have distributed over 53,000 gallons of water.
I have heard the concerns of residents around enhancing the accessibility of our water distribution efforts and am urging older adults and homebound residents to call 3-1-1 to schedule water delivery. We've already fulfilled at least forty 3-1-1 requests for water delivery as well as several deliveries to senior housing and homeless shelters.
We will continue to provide updates as the situation progresses.
